Lake Norman real estate's Nonember 2016 calendar

Download this month’s Lake Norman calendar here

When I think of fall, our gorgeous Great Smokey Mountains, just 90 miles from Lake Norman, always come to mind.  While we have beautiful fall colors right here in Lake Norman, leaf peeping in our mountains is such a big deal that the local weather forecasters even include their stages of color.  Better go this weekend as they are almost past prime where as here they have just started to change.  This unusually warm weather may have something to do with the late colors.  I am looking forward to real fall temperatures!  (And, please send us some rain too, we can really use it.)

I would love to use one of your favorite photos depicting life here in Lake Norman. (Optimum size is a landscape photo about 2MB or about 1600 x 1200 pixels). I will give a $25 Gas Card to anyone who provides a photo that I use as one of my monthly calendars. Barn Quilt in the snow In North Carolina

What is wonderful about living on Lake Norman is not just what an amazing place it is but also how close Lake Norman is to so many other great places like Charleston SC (3.5 hour drive), Atlanta (5.5 hour drive), Washington DC (6 hour drive) and the gorgeous beaches along the coast of North Carolina which are only about 4.5 hours away. However, my favorite getaways are places like Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway which are only 90 miles are quick 1.5 hour drive on I-40.  It isn’t hard to find beautiful country scenes like the one above!

This gorgeous photo was taken by renowned artist Cotton Ketchie, owner of Mooresville’s Landmark Galleries, who spends much of his time driving all over North Carolina and even summer trips around the country, taking stunning photos. And, of course, he also takes some amazing photos of Lake Norman as well. If you haven’t visited his store on Main Street in Historic Downtown Mooresville you should put it on your list for 2013! Lake Norman Real Estate’s July 2013 Wallpaper Calendar is Here!

Lake Norman Real Estate's July 2013 Wallpaper Calender

I have written a lot about life in Lake Norman and how we have two very different types of communities within the same towns.  This is particularly true in the town of Mooresville where you will find Donald Trump’s Trump National Golf Club and the largest number of waterfront homes and estates on all of Lake Norman. However, if you travel east of Interstate 77 you will discover the original, historic town of Mooresville which was developed along the railroad in the 1800’s for its earliest residents, cotton farmers.  Since I moved here in 2005 Historic Downtown Mooresville has gone from a sleepy town to a true destination with great restaurants, shops, art galleries, entertainment and a number of festivals and community events.  The photo above is taken at the recently upgraded John Franklin Moore Park which is adjacent to the railroad tracks.  Last July the Exchange Club created this wonderful display of American flags for the 4th of July.  In the background is the original train depot which is now home to the Mooresville Artist Guild as well as some other historic buildings on Main and Broad Streets.

Lake Norman Real Estate’s August 2012 Wallpaper Calendar

This month’s picture is a great example of a wide cove with deep water and views out to the main channel of Lake Norman.  For folks who don’t want the waves and noise that goes along with those incredible main channel views, a cove like this one is a great option.  It has deep water and is wide enough to offer lovely views.  I took this picture from the dock of a home I sold for “land value” for $305,000 last month.  It was an exceptional deal! Lake Norman Real Estate’s August 2011 Wallpaper Calendar is Here!

Lake Norman real estate August 2011 Calendar

When I think of August, one of the first things that comes to mind is vineyards.  Every August from the year my first child was born we would visit my parents at their vineyard in Napa Valley CA.  The wine grapes were about a month away from picking (looking just like the photo above) and the views of the miles upon miles of lush green grape vines interrupted only by an occasional winery were simply stunning.

What I didn’t know until moving to Lake Norman was that North Carolina also has a thriving wine country located in three major viticultural areas: The Yadkin Valley, Swan Creek and Haw River Valley.  You can learn more at the Visit North Carolina Wine Country  website.  There is nothing more relaxing than a picnic in a serene vineyard on a warm August day so if you don’t feel like going out on Lake Norman, try a day in the wine country! Lake Norman Real Estate’s December 2009 Calendar is Here!

Lake Norman Real Estate's Dec09Wallpaper Calendar Preview

December is upon us here in Lake Norman and with it comes crisp clear “Carolina Blue” skies, cool temperatures (It got down to 38 degrees this morning but warmed up to 62 degrees this afternoon) and the return of “seasonal waterviews”.  With the trees now bare those of us whose Lake Norman homes have “seasonal waterviews” have seen our views transformed from thick and beautiful trees to expansive views of Lake Norman!

For this month’s calendar I chose this photo of our North Carolina bird the Cardinal because of its naturally beautiful red feathers.  Perfect for this holiday season!
