It started 19 years ago as an effort by Penske’s President Don Miller and several race car drivers to collect toys for children. Today it is one of the most incredible racing events of the year but it has not lost its focus on the children.
On December 11th 2007, NASCAR, NHRA, ARCA and Legend drivers and celebrities past and present will join County Music stars like Brooke Morton to help raise money for the Exchange/Iredell SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now) Centers in Statesville and Mooresville.
Downtown Mooresville’s Main Street will be transformed into a showcase of race cars, pit-crew demonstrations and live music while inside the Charles Mack Citizens Center over 30 of the top drivers/media and Country Music celebrities will be signing autographs for fans AND there will be an incredible auction of collectibles like sheet metal from famous race cars. There is no other event like this where so many drivers are in one place at one time to meet with the fans. The drivers, many of whom live in the Mooresville area, generously give of their precious holiday time to help battle child abuse.
The event is 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and driver signings are from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. If you are interested in getting autographs you will need to learn more about the wristband procedures (wrist bands are needed to enter the event, obtain an autograph and/or attend the auction) by going to the Stocks for Tots website
The list of drivers and celebrities is updated on the Stocks for Tots website as well.
As the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of SCAN I can tell you that this event has enabled our organization to expand programs, add parenting classes all of which have resulted in the downward trend of child abuse cases in Iredell County.
I am constantly amazed by all of the hardwork that goes in to putting on this event and the full year of planning and dedication by the Stocks for Tots committee. This is the essence of what life is like here in Mooresville and it is one of the reasons I love living here and being a part of this wonderful community. I hope to see you there!
