Huntersville kicks off the holidays with The arrival of Santa and their annual tree lighting ceremony on November 16th at 5 pm at Birkdale Village. The rest of the season visitors of Birkdale Village can enjoy the beautiful displays/decorations and even meet Santa! (Not to mention some of the best shopping and restaurants in Lake Norman!)
Mooresville’s Christmas Parade is before Thanksgiving? Yep, it is Tuesday, November 26th starting at 3:00 – 4:45. It is a long story, but I guess each town around Lake Norman and Charlotte was designated a different week for their parades and Mooresville ended up with the Tuesday before Thanksgiving!
This year is the 69th Annual Mooresville Christmas Parade. It just keeps getting bigger and better every year yet organizers work hard to make sure it retains its ‘home town’ feel. Entries include floats and performers traveling down Main Street in Historic Downtown Mooresville. These will include marching bands, Scout troops, dance schools, floats and Santa! 12,000 – 15,000 of our local residents come out each year to enjoy the fun so get there early, especially if you want a good spot in the heart of Downtown.
The Mooresville Christmas Parade is put on by the Mooresville Convention and Visitors Bureau. For more information, call 704.662.8210.
Light Up Cornelius is the Town of Cornelius’s annual tree lighting ceremony which includes community choirs, dance performances, children’s activities, carriage rides, holiday shopping, refreshments and a visit with Santa. It will be held on November 30th from 2-6pm on the lawn at Cornelius Town Hall in old Cornelius.
Looking for something a bit more old fashioned? The Latta Plantation is holding A Plantation Christmas November 29-30th. Experience an 1860’s Christmas where you will see period decor, meet a Victorian St. Nick, see Christmas baking in the kitchen and learn about period Christmas traditions. 10:00am – 4pm. Call 704.875.2312 or visit the Latta Plantation website for more information.
I will add more events as I learn about them. Email me your additions as well!
