“Cotton” Ketchie… Preserving our heritage through his art… photography… literature

If you really want to learn about and buy art depicting our beloved Mooresville and Lake Norman a visit to Cotton Ketchie at his Landmark Galleries  store in Historic Downtown Mooresville is an absolute must do!

Cotton Ketchie is world renowned for his gorgeous watercolors which capture the past and present beauty through subjects ranging from many historic homes and landmarks, spectacular landscapes, scenes of Lake Norman, stunning nature and quaint reminders of our past.  He is even featured in the most recent AAA travelers guide book for North Carolina for Mooresville’s places to visit!

I was fortunate to meet Cotton and his wonderful wife Vickie just a month after moving here in July of 2005.  I instantly fell in love with his watercolors and how beautifully they depict life here in Lake Norman and Mooresville.  Thanks to his gorgeous collection of North Carolina pottery for sale as well at his gallery on Main Street in Mooresville I purchased my first piece of what is now a collection of over 300 pieces of pottery made by potters from all over North Carolina.  (Cotton himself has an amazing pottery collection some of which you can see on display in the back room of his gallery.)

Since then Cotton has become an avid and prolific photographer and writer and now sells spectacular photographs not just of North Carolina but taken throughout the United States at his gallery.  He has written a number of books, both non-fiction stories about growing up in Mooresville (Memories of a Country Boy , and A Country Boy’s Education) as well as some very entertaining novels all of which are available in his gallery.

Cotton is always very gracious about personally signing his works and books if he is at the gallery.  But, to be guaranteed a signature and just in time for the holidays, he and Vickie will be hosting their annual Landmark Galleries’ Holiday Open House this Sunday, November 18th from 1pm – 5pm. His  framed watercolors, photographs, books and selection of gorgeous North Carolina pottery make wonderful and unique gifts for even the toughest on your shopping list!

So, mark your calendars for this Sunday, November 18th for a very special event.  Landmark Galleries is located at:

  • 212 N Main St
  • Mooresville, North Carolina 28115
  • Open 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • (704) 664-4122
