Wow, how time flies! Construction began on Lake Norman’s newest Exit 35 on I-77 in November of 2009 and officials now say it will be completed in mid-to-late June. I took this photo yesterday at the actual intersection. As you can see, the work here is completed and the signs are even up and ready to go.
Seriously, there is some honest, well-deserved pride in the phrase “I survived the Brawley School Rd Widening”. It took about 5 years but in just a few months the final phase will enable us to take our new, awesome, 4-lane divided Brawley School Road all the way to our new Exit 35 on I-77! Owning a home, waterfront or not, down Brawley School road is now one of the very best options in all of Lake Norman. We are close to great shopping, restaurants and the I-77, we have good schools, low taxes and are now even a destination for atheletes and cyclists thanks to our new bike lanes. Not to mention that we are home to the gorgeous Trump National Golf Club, Charlotte Lake Norman.
All that is left, according to John Cook of the North Carolina Department of Transportation, is the final paving which was delayed due to cold weather. However, if you look at this photo you can see that the left lane is already laid so we are truly getting close. They were laying asphalt yesterday when I took this photo of Brawley School Rd which is just west of the new exit.
Almost time to celebrate!
